How it’s Going and Industry Concerns

Let’s Move has turned 5 years old. It’s been a long 5 years with many struggles but we are proud with how far we’ve come. While we still are small, we continue to focus on providing exceptional service to our clients. Without that, we wouldn’t be in business today. Many if not most of our clients are referrals. After experiencing our service, many will immediately tell their friends and family to choose us over the competition. And that competition is plentiful.

There are many big-name moving companies that we have to compete with directly. A host of smaller names like us, as well as brand new companies. Non-permitted moving companies continue to operate and steal business from those (like us) who pay exceptionally high costs to be permitted. It’s a problem that’s hard to solve. These companies will change names and owners to avoid having to pay the cost of licensing. They’ll undercut the competition, knowing that they’ll turn a higher profit than those charging more because they don’t pay for insurance.

On the other hand, many big-name companies will lie about the quality of their service. Often touting things like “Most careful movers” or “Exceptional Experience”. These are almost always far from the truth. Large companies will spend more on advertising than they spend paying their moving crews. They are forced to pay the ones who do the actual work minimum wage or close to it. When you hire one of these companies, you pay top dollar. Yet, you’ll often be met with workers who couldn’t care less because they see putting in extra effort as ‘not worth it’. I know this because I’ve seen it firsthand. Hiring a smaller business, one that is family owned, will ensure you not only get good service, but also spend less. Going with the big names is a gamble. One bad review here and there isn’t going to hurt their reputation. The family ran ones however.. can’t afford poor reviews. That is why we pay our crews a respectable wage and provide other benefits to keep them happy.

Moving is hard work. Being in a good mood for our clients is paramount. Having a good mood makes every move smooth and easy. And our crew isn’t deterred when faced with a challenge. This is why we continue to be referred by our clients. They can see we take pride in the work we do and that we enjoy doing it.

As for what’s next – we’re looking for new ways to generate more income without raising our prices. We would love to be able to provide our crew with even higher wages and benefits. We have some ideas in the works so keep an eye on the blog for updates.
